What Whenary is

Whenary is a shared calendar for the people you actually plan with: friend groups, couples, and households first, with clubs and organizers welcome too. No ads, no engagement feed, no behavioral tracking inside the product. You get personal calendars, collaborative spaces, friend sharing with per-tier visibility, and standard calendar workflows that interoperate with whatever your people already use.

Core capabilities

  • Friend graph: share your personal calendar per direction; server redacts busy/private details by your visibility settings
  • Plan-a-meetup flow: tentative event plus availability heatmap, lock in the time once everyone has painted when they're free
  • Spaces with member roles, shared calendars, events, reminders, and recurrence
  • Two-way CalDAV sync: edit Whenary events from Apple Calendar, Thunderbird, or DAVx5 with per-device passwords you can scope read-only and revoke
  • ICS import with dedup, export, and read-only subscription feeds with token URLs
  • Guest RSVP links and revocable public calendar links (bearer URLs, server-redacted)
  • Event chat, polls, checklists, availability polls, lists, and space chat
  • OPAQUE passwords, WebAuthn passkeys, TOTP, and strict CSRF on mutating requests
  • Optional bring-your-own S3-compatible storage for qualifying space media

Privacy boundaries

Selected text fields are encrypted at rest; the server still processes events for permissions, reminders, and collaboration. This is not full end-to-end encryption for calendar data. Read the specifics on our Security page and Privacy Policy.
